Some businesses use one invoice sequence across the years. Others start a new sequence every January.

You can now choose either approach in your organization’s settings: Continue across years or Restart each year. A number preview shows how the next invoice number will look. Custom formats remain available when you need a particular combination of sequence digits, year and other characters.

The choice applies to future invoices. Already-issued documents keep their numbers.

Add your business details without losing your draft.

Already preparing an invoice, but haven’t added the business issuing it? Create your issuing organization from the invoice editor, then return with it selected.

Your selected client, invoice lines and notes stay in the draft. This works for a single invoice and for a group.

If you’re starting from scratch, an issuing organization and a client are enough to prepare your first invoice. A saved product is optional.

The organization form now keeps optional settings—such as payment details and a logo—in expandable sections, so you can fill in what you need first.

Set the default for the right organization.

Choose an organization in the template gallery, preview its invoices and set its default design.

When preparing an invoice, Use organization default follows that organization’s current choice. You can still select a different template for a particular invoice.

Changing a default does not redesign documents you have already issued.
